3.2.1.2.8. Fuel system

GENERAL INFORMATION

The injector fuel system contains the distributive fuel pump CAV Roto Diesel.

Fuel tank

The fuel tank, stamped from a steel sheet, is located under the bottom before a back axis of the car.

Capacity: 42 dm3.

Fuel type: diesel fuel.

Fuel filter

The fuel filter contains the replaced element and a settler.

Brand and type: Ford EFG 24 or Lucas 7176-902.

Air filter

Brand and type: Motorcraft EFA 199.

Fuel pump

The rotor distributive fuel pump is equipped by the hydraulic proofreader of a corner of an advancing of injection on the cold engine. The pump is put in action by a separate gear belt.

Brand and type:

 – RFA and RFB engines: Lucas CAV Roto Diesel DPC 8443 B 431 C or DPC 8443 B 432 D;
 – RFL engines: Lucas CAV Roto Diesel DPC 8443 B 442 C or D or DPC 8443 B 444 F.

The sequence of injection (the cylinder No. 1 from the drive of system of gas distribution): 1–3–4–2.

Installation of the pump: by means of adjusting adaptation (see subsection 3.2.1.3.3).

Idling speed: 870±20 rpm.

The maximum speed (without loading): 5150 + 50 rpm.

Nozzles

Nozzles are screwed in in a head of the block of cylinders.

Nozzles: CAV RotoDiesel Lucas BDN 12S DC 6849 C RDN 12S DC 6849 C.

Spray type: Pinteau.

Pressure of opening of a nozzle:

 – nominal: 14,3–15,0 MPas;
 – minimum: 14,0 MPas.

Tightness check: lack of an effluence of fuel within 10 seconds under pressure of 12 MPas.

Pressure drop time in the range of nominal pressure of injection: 5–40 seconds.

Glow plugs

Type: rod.

Heating temperature: 1150 °C.

Brand and type: Bosch 0250 202 018 or Ford EZD 8.

Gear belt of the drive of the fuel pump

Brand: Motorcraft.

Tension: it is regulated by automatically roller tension device.

Turbocompressor

Brand and type: Garrett T2.

Turbocompression pressure: 76 kPa.
