3.2.1.2.10. Adjustment of the engine

Check of a gap of valves

The gap of valves is checked by the probe between a back part of a cam and a pusher.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To disconnect the elastic pipeline of ventilation of a case of the engine from a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
2. To uncover the block of cylinders.
3. To turn a bent shaft of the engine for a nut of fastening of a pulley (it is impossible to rotate for a cam-shaft pulley) in the direction of its working rotation to situation in which both cams of the 1st cylinder will be turned by a working part of a cam up.
4. To check a gap of valves of the 1st cylinder, inserting a probe plate between a back part of a cam and a pusher.
5. To define type of the checked valve (inlet or final) and to compare value of the measured gap to the required value (see subsection 3.2.1.2.2). In case of need to adjust a gap of the checked valve.

Prevention

The sequence of installation of valves, considering from a forward part of the engine (from the drive of system of gas distribution) in each cylinder it is identical: the first (about the drive of system of gas distribution) is the inlet valve, and the second – final.

6. To repeat the described actions for valves of other cylinders in the sequence of injection (1–3–4–2, reading out drives of system of gas distribution from the party).

Adjustment of a gap of valves

Adjustment of a gap of valves consists in replacement of the adjusting plate located in deepening of a pusher. Replacement of adjusting plates does not demand extraction of a cam-shaft if the special device for performance of this operation is used.

Prevention

Pistons of the engine should not be in process of replacement of plates of adjustment of a gap of valves precisely in VMT, and is several millimeters lower (about 1/4 turns of a bent shaft). It will prevent impact of the valve about a bottom of the piston pressed when replacing an adjusting plate.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To turn pushers so that in bottoms of pushers after compression it was possible to insert into cuts easily special nippers for extraction of adjusting plates.
2. To establish a bent shaft of the engine in the relevant provision (see the description above) and by means of the press device (adaptation 21.106) to press down a pusher (opening at the same time the valve and squeezing its spring) so that by means of special nippers (21.107) it was possible to take an adjusting plate.
3. To measure thickness of the taken plate and, taking the measured gap and the required nominal size in attention, to pick up from a set a plate thickness providing the required valve gap.
4. To insert the picked-up plate so that the surface with its designation was directed down (to a pusher).
5. To take the press device.
6. To repeat the described operations for other valves.
7. To establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders with new laying.
8. To attach the elastic pipeline of system of ventilation of a case of the engine to a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
