GENERAL INFORMATION

Generator

The Ford Sierra 1,8 Turbo D cars are equipped with the Bosch N1 70 A or Lucas A 127/70 generator.

Maple belt

Brand and type: Dayco. Deflection: 4 mm under pressing of a thumb.

Starter

The Ford Sierra 1,8 Turbo D cars are equipped with Bosch JF starter with the following data.

Power: 2,2 kW.

Number of brushes: 4. Minimum length of brushes: 32,8 mm.

Axial gap of a rotor: 0,3 mm.

SAFETY LOCKS AND RELAY

Since September, 1990 connection of safety locks and the relay in the electric equipment of the car is changed.

Prevention

The main box of safety locks and the relay is in a back part of a motor compartment on the left side.


Additional safety locks are located in a box under the forward panel on the right side (between a middle part of the forward panel and a ware box) and it:

 – a safety lock No. 28 (25 A – white) – the additional fan of a radiator;
 – a safety lock No. 29 (30 A – green) – the conditioning device;
 – a safety lock No. 30 (20 A – yellow) – anti-blocking system (ABS);
 – a safety lock No. 31 (30 A – green) – the ABS system pump I;
 – a safety lock No. 33 (25 A – white) – the main fan of a radiator;
 – a safety lock No. 34 (30 A – green) – the ABS system pump II;
 – a safety lock No. 35 (1 A – black) – the EEC IV module;
 – a safety lock No. 36 (10 A – red) – the operating EGR hub (recirculation of exhaust gases).

Besides, on separate wires of power supply there are following safety locks:

 – the main safety lock (about 55 And) – on a wire (+) the accumulator;
 – the on-board computer (1 A) – under an instrument guard;
 – fuel system of injection (20 A) – about the relay;
 – electric opening of a back door of a body (1 A) – about the ignition switch;
 – radio receiver (2 A; 3,15 A or 6,3 A) – on a wire of power supply or behind the radio receiver.

Relay

In the main box of safety locks and the relay there can be following relays:

 – No. A: operation of the engine;
 – No. B: additional fires for the movement in the afternoon (only Sweden and Norway) or back fog lights;
 – No. C: sound signal;
 – No. D: engine control systems;
 – No. E: back fog lights;
 – No. F: headlights of passing beam;
 – No. G: heating of front seats;
 – No. H: forward fog lights;
 – No. I: ignition switch;
 – No. II: the basic of fires for the movement in the afternoon (only Sweden and Norway);
 – No. III: screen wipers of headlights;
 – No. IV: heating of back glass;
 – No. V: windshield screen wiper programmator;
 – No. VI: switch of illumination of salon;
 – No. VII: anti-blocking ABS system;
 – No. VIII: kick-down mechanism of the automatic transmission;
 – No. IX: programmator of a screen wiper of back glass;
 – No. X: high beam headlamps;
 – No. XI: engine control systems;
 – No. XII: safe start of the engine (blocking of a starter) in cars with the automatic transmission.

In a motor compartment behind a box the relay of initial warming up of the engine (management of glow plugs) is located.
