Basic element of system of gas distribution is the cam-shaft located in a head of the block of cylinders and put in action by a gear belt from a bent shaft.

The gas distribution phases (measured at a working gap of valves):

 – OZD: 6 ° before VMT;
 – ZZD: 32 ° after NMT;
 – OZW: 57 ° before NMT;
 – ZZW: 7 ° after VMT.

OZD and ZZD – respectively opening and closing of the inlet valve; OZW and ZZW-respectively opening and closing of the final valve.


The cam-shaft leans on five bearings containing thin-walled inserts.

Raising of valves:

 – inlet: 10 mm;
 – final: 9 mm.

Axial side play: 0,1–0,2 mm.

Diameter of necks of bearings: 27,960–27,980 mm.

Gap in cam-shaft bearings: 0,020–0,079 mm.

Gear belt

The gear belt puts a cam-shaft, an intermediate shaft and the pump of cooling liquid in action.

Brand: Motorcraft.

Tension: it is regulated by automatically roller tension device.

Frequency of replacement: each 60 000 km of a run.
