3.1.4.4.6. Check of elements of the EEC IV system

GENERAL INFORMATION

For check of elements of system it is necessary to disconnect the multicontact socket from the electronic EEC IV actuation device, and then to execute the corresponding measurements on contacts of this socket.

In case of detection of malfunctions it is necessary to check first of all electric wires and their connections, and then to check the corresponding element.

CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT OF IDLING

Entry conditions

The engine has to be heated-up up to the normal working temperature. For this purpose it is necessary to increase its speed to 2000 rpm and to wait for opening of the valve of the thermostat. It is not necessary to warm up the engine idling as during the long work in these conditions contents WITH in exhaust gases will differ from contents WITH under usual service conditions of the car.

The air filter has to be installed, and its replaced element should not be too polluted.

The system of ignition has to be in good technical condition.

The additional air arriving through the leaks of connections damaged vacuum the pipeline, etc. should not get to inlet system of the engine.

The final system of the engine has to be tight.

Any of consumers of the electric power should not be included (lamps of headlights, the fan engine, heating of back glass, etc.).

Check of speed

Idling speed in the engines equipped with the EEC IV system is regulated by the electronic EEC IV actuation device and the possibility of manual regulation is absent. For the N9A DOHC engine the speed of idling has to make 875±25 rpm.

Adjustment of contents WITH


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To connect the analyzer of exhaust gases.
2. To check contents WITH idling which for the N9A DOHC engine has to make 1,0–1,5%.
3. In case of need to adjust contents WITH idling by means of a potentiometer of adjustment of contents WITH.
