3.1.4.4.4. Check and adjustment of the EEC IV system

GENERAL INFORMATION

Diagnostics

The EEC IV system possesses function of autodiagnostics facilitating detection of malfunctions. The diagnostic socket located about the accumulator does possible connection of a tester of STAR showing the diagnostic codes which are contained in diagnostic memory of the electronic EEC IV actuation device.

For check of contents of diagnostic memory it is necessary to connect STAR tester to the diagnostic socket of the EEC IV system, to include a tester and to read diagnostic codes. For use of a maximum of diagnostic opportunities it is necessary to arrive strictly according to the instructions provided in the table describing the diagnostic procedure.

Procedure of diagnostics of the EEC IV system

1. To connect STAR tester to the diagnostic socket. To include a tester. To press the tester button.
The diagnostic socket is located about the accumulator. On the indicator the control code has to be highlighted. In case of the message on the discharged food batteries, they should be replaced. The symbol of reception of codes has to be highlighted. It designates that the tester is ready for reception of diagnostic signals of the electronic EES actuation device.
2. To include ignition. Not to start the engine.
After inclusion of ignition the electronic EEC IV actuation device switches in the mode of autodiagnostics and after a while is ready to work.
3. To read and write down the highlighted digital codes of defects. The 11 code or a code of the found malfunction.
The electronic EEC IV actuation device checks signals from sensors at the idle engine and a condition of converters of data. The 11 code designates that the system is serviceable. In case of malfunction the corresponding code will be written down in diagnostic memory of the electronic EEC IV actuation device which will highlight it during check of a faulty element.
4. The 20 code is highlighted.
It is a division code. It divides the codes shown during the current control from written down in diagnostic memory in the course of other 40 autodiagnostic tests.
5. To read and write down the highlighted digital codes. The 11 code or a code of the found malfunction.
The highlighted codes designate the malfunctions found in the course of other 40 autodiagnostic tests and are written down in memory. The 11 code designates that malfunction in the course of other 40 autodiagnostic tests is not revealed. After highlighting of the 10 code codes of malfunction are highlighted only once, and then erased from diagnostic memory.

Prevention

The code of malfunction is highlighted only once and it should be written down at once (there is no possibility of repetition).


6. The 10 code is highlighted. To move plaits of wires and their sockets for detection of their malfunction.
The electronic EEC IV actuation device is in the mode of "changeable control".

Prevention

Results of the previous tests are erased from memory. If the light-emitting diode blinks, then it means failure detection and record of its code in memory. In case of need it is possible to repeat the procedure at the idle engine for highlighting of its code.


7. To switch off ignition. To press STAR tester button. To switch off a tester, but not to disconnect it from the diagnostic socket of the engine.
8. To eliminate the found malfunctions (see the table Elimination of Malfunctions). To continue check after malfunction elimination.
To eliminate the malfunctions corresponding to the specified codes in points 4, 6 and 7. Value of codes and ways of elimination of malfunctions – see in the table Elimination of Malfunctions. After elimination of all malfunctions to continue the diagnostic procedure.
The procedure in the constant mode
1. To connect STAR tester to the diagnostic socket and to include it.
To press the tester button.
After start of the engine and inclusion of a tester the procedure of autodiagnostics in the constant (continuous) mode begins. The tester before stabilization has to show a control code. To check whether the index of a discharge of batteries of food lights up. In case of need to replace batteries. The symbol of the acceptance of codes has to be highlighted. It designates that the tester can accept information from the electronic EEC IV actuation device.
2. After a while codes of the found malfunctions will be highlighted (they should be written down). Highlighting of the 11 code means that malfunctions are not revealed. To cause several times highlighting of all codes of malfunctions to be convinced
The electronic EEC IV actuation device begins check of sensors. Their parameters have to correspond written down in constant memory of the EEC IV device. In case of an exit for limits of the admission the EEC IV device transfers a code of the found malfunction to a diagnostic tester. Codes of malfunctions are highlighted by STAR tester. They should be written down. The 11 code means that malfunctions are not revealed.
3. To press the tester button. To switch off a tester. To switch off the engine. Not to disconnect

The procedure at the working engine
1. To include a diagnostic tester of STAR.
To press the tester button.
To include a tester before start of the engine that it was ready to work during start of the engine. The tester before stabilization has to show a control code. To check whether the index of a discharge of batteries of food lights up. In case of need to replace batteries.
2. To include ignition and in 3 seconds to start the engine.
It is necessary to wait a little after inclusion of ignition that the electronic EES IV actuation device began work. The symbol of the acceptance of codes has to be highlighted. It designates that the tester can accept information from the electronic EEC IV actuation device.
3. The tester has to highlight the 50 code.
The 50 code is a code of identification and means that the engine is equipped with the European version of the electronic EEC IV actuation device. If the 50 code is not highlighted, then it is necessary to check type of the electronic EEC IV actuation device.
4. Highlighting of a series of codes of the found malfunctions. In case of detection of malfunctions it is necessary to switch off a tester, to kill the engine and to eliminate malfunctions. Then to repeat the procedure at the working engine.
In case of highlighting of the codes specifying that engine temperature too low or the lever of gear shifting of the automatic transmission is not necessary in neutral situation the electronic actuation device does not carry out further autodiagnostics.
5. Increase in speed of the engine.
Increase in speed of the engine is caused by the electronic EEC IV actuation device at the beginning of the sequence of implementation of dynamic tests. Converters and the output data of boundary values of operation of the engine are checked. The electronic EEC IV actuation device checks elements of management, feigning various operating conditions of the engine, and then compares results to the data programmed in memory. The found malfunctions remain in diagnostic memory of the electronic EEC IV actuation device, and then are transmitted to a diagnostic tester.
6. The 10 code is highlighted. Immediately after highlighting of this code it is necessary to press sharply an accelerator pedal (speed of the engine has to pass quickly for 2500 rpm).
After highlighting of the 10 code it is necessary to press an accelerator pedal sharply. At the pressed accelerator pedal the electronic EEC IV actuation device has to define excess of the speed of 2500 rpm.
7. In case of highlighting of the 44 code it is necessary to press the STAR button and to switch off the engine. To return to the operation N1 and to repeat at first all procedure at the working engine.
The 44 code means that change of speed of the engine was insufficiently.

Prevention

If the 44 code is not highlighted, then it is necessary to continue the procedure according to the N8 point.


8. The 11 code or codes of the found malfunctions is highlighted. The 11 code designates that malfunctions are not found. To read and write down the highlighted codes of malfunctions.
The highlighted numbers of codes correspond to malfunctions which are found in the course of implementation of this diagnostic procedure.
9. To eliminate the malfunctions found in the previous operation. To kill the engine, to switch off STAR tester pressing of its button. If malfunctions are not found (11 code), it is necessary to pass to operation N10 performance.
Actions which need to be executed for elimination of the found malfunction are given in the table of codes of malfunctions. After elimination of malfunctions it is necessary to repeat the diagnostic procedure at the working engine.
10. There is a 60 code. To pass to operation N11 performance.
The electronic EEC IV actuation device checks installation of ignition.

Prevention

There is no possibility of performance of manual adjustment of installation of ignition.


11. To press the button on a forward wall of a tester of STAR, to switch off tester food, to disconnect a tester from the diagnostic socket of the engine. To kill the engine.
