3.1.4.3.1.8. System of ignition

GENERAL INFORMATION

In the engine of 2,0 NANOSECONDS of DOHC 2V (N8A) the accumulator, microprocessor system of ignition like ESC II is used, and in the engine of 2,0 NANOSECONDS of DOHC EFI (N9A) the accumulator, microprocessor system of ignition like ESC IV, integrated with system of injection Ford Motorcraft EFI is installed.

The principle of action of both types of system of ignition is identical, however the system integrated with system of injection differs in bigger power.

The system of ignition includes:

  – ignition coil;
  – the ignition distributor containing the sensor of speed and the distributor of high voltage;
  – the electronic module of management of ignition or the electronic device operating injection and ignition;
  – four spark plugs.

Besides, (depending on type) the system of ignition contains:

  – sensor of temperature of cooling liquid (ESC II and EEC IV);
  – vacuum sensor (ESC II);
  – sensor of neutral position of the lever of gear shifting of the automatic transmission (ESC II and EEC IV);
  – sensor of provision of a butterfly valve (EEC IV);
  – sensor of the absolute pressure (EEC IV).

Ignition coil

Brand and type: Bosch 0 221 122 450.

Resistance of primary winding: 0,72 – 0,88 Ohms.

Resistance of a secondary winding: 4,5 – 7 kOhm.

Ignition distributor

The distributor of ignition contains the contactless sensor of Hall which is carrying out also a speed sensor role, and also the distributor of high voltage. It is located on the forward end of a cam-shaft of inlet valves.

Brand: Motorcraft.

Ignition order (the N1 cylinder from the drive of system of gas distribution): 1–3–4–2.

Direction of rotation: clockwise.

Electronic module of the N8A engine

Brand: Motorcraft.

Type: Ford ESC II.

Electronic module of management of the N9A engine

Brand: Motorcraft.

Type:

  – cars with the mechanical transmission: Ford EEC IV 88 BB 12A 650 AB;
