GENERAL INFORMATION

Situation "P" – the parking ("Parking")

In this situation back wheels are recorded. The automatic transmission is blocked by the ratchet mechanism which is not allowing its shaft to rotate. Installation of the lever of gear shifting in situation "P" is possible only at the motionless car.

Situation "R" – a backing

Installation of the lever of gear shifting in situation "R" is possible only at the motionless car. Even at very small speed of the movement it is necessary to stop the car and only then to include transfer of a backing.


Prevention

It is impossible to try to rearrange the gear shifting lever in situation "R" at the movement of the car forward and in situation "1", "2" or "D" at the movement of the car back.


Situation "N" – neutral situation

In this position of the lever of gear shifting the drive is disunited. The working engine does not set the car in motion. The carburetor of the engine is equipped with the automatic starting arrangement which after its start holds the accelerated idling of the engine during its warming up.

At installation of the lever of gear shifting from situation "N" in situation "1", "2", "D" or "R" the car tends to move a little. Therefore before installation of the lever of gear shifting in one of these provisions it is necessary to press a brake pedal.

Situation "D" – automatic gear shifting at advance

When finding the lever of gear shifting in this situation the car begins the movement on the 1st transfer, and switching to the 2nd and 3-y transfers happens automatically depending on the speed of the movement of the car, and also level of opening of a butterfly valve in the carburetor (the provision of a pedal of an accelerator). Gear shifting on more lowest happens also automatically. Pressing of a pedal of an accelerator against the stop and deduction it in this situation during a short period (kick-down) causes, depending on the speed of the movement, switching from the 3rd transfer to the 2nd or with the 2nd on the 1st, i.e. on more lowest transfer.

In the course of warming up of the engine when it works with the increased idling speed, the car tends to slow start-off from the place at installation of the lever of gear shifting in situation "1", "2", "D" or "R". This tendency decreases in process of warming up of the engine and reduction of speed of its idling. Therefore at warming up of the engine before installation of the lever of gear shifting in one of above-mentioned provisions it is recommended to press a pedal of a brake or to tighten the lever of the emergency brake.

Situation "2" – automatic gear shifting with the 1st on the 2nd and back

The car begins the movement on the 1st transfer and during the movement there is an automatic switching only to the 2nd transfer. 3-y transfer does not join. Situation "2" is recommended to be used during long-term descents from heights as in this situation perhaps rather intensive braking the engine and, thus, preserves brakes against excessive heating.


Prevention

The lever of gear shifting can be rearranged in situation "2" provided that the speed of the movement of the car does not exceed 100 km/h.


Situation "1" – the 1st transfer is constantly included

The car begins to move on the 1st transfer and there is no gear shifting on more highest. Situation "1" is recommended to be used during descents from abrupt heights as at this situation perhaps very intensive braking by the engine. Moving of the lever of gear shifting to situation "1" during the movement on the 3rd transfer causes switching of transfer to the 2nd. Switching to the 1st transfer will happen only when the speed of the movement falls to 20–40 km/h.

Prevention

The lever of gear shifting can be rearranged in situation "1" provided that the speed of the movement of the car does not exceed 100 km/h.
After automatic inclusion of the 1st transfer under no circumstances there will not come switching of transfer to more highest.


During the movement at the gear shifting lever installed in situation "D" installation at once on the 1st transfer is possible provided that the speed of the movement of the car makes 30–50 km/h. It demands pressing of a pedal of an accelerator against the stop.

Use of a compulsory reduction of transfers (kick-down)

Pressing of a pedal of an accelerator against the stop does possible sharp acceleration during the movement downhill or overtaking (except the braking cases stipulated above by the engine). At installation of the lever of gear shifting in situation "D" there is an automatic switching of transfer to the 2nd on the 1st. The described actions can be applied only in the corresponding range of speed of the movement of the car.
