REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF THE STARTER

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. To disconnect a wire of mass of the accumulator.

2. To lift and record in front of the car.

3. To disconnect from a starter the main wire of power supply, and also an electric wire from the electromagnetic switch of a starter.

4. To unscrew three bolts of fastening (see rice. Fastening of a starter) and to take a starter from below of the car.

Installation

For installation of a starter it is necessary to perform operations in the return sequence in relation to removal process.

DISMANTLING AND ASSEMBLY OF THE STARTER

For dismantling and assembly of a starter after its removal from the car it is necessary to use drawings: Lucas starters, Starters of Cajavec and Nippondenso and Starters of Bosch on which the correct provisions of each detail are submitted.

After dismantling of a starter it is necessary to check:

  – a condition of brushes, their wear, and also freedom of movement of brushes in brush holders;
  – force of a clip and provision of springs of brushes;
  – and to proshlifovat a type of a collector which should be cleared the rag moistened in gasoline or trichlorethylene a fine-grained emery paper;
  – a condition of plugs of the self-greased bearings; in case of need new plugs it is necessary to omit replacements not less, than for 20 minutes in engine oil (viscosity of SAE 30 or 40) before their installation in a starter.
